Introduction
Welcome to Crime Kitten, the meow-ist
true crime blog on the web. Maybe. I realize the name is silly, but
hey, it wasn't easy coming up with a good name and I do enjoy
kittens. And crime. So, if you have not guessed, this blog is all
about true crime.
Why true crime? Well, I have been
fascinated with it my whole life (or as long as I can recall,
anyways) and I enjoy reading, writing, talking about it and watching
it. I think there is something interesting about trying to
understand why. Why would someone kill? Sure, maybe they are evil,
maybe it is about money or power or sex...but lots of people want
those things and don't resort to murder.
I cried when my fish died (as an
adult), so for me, I can rarely relate to someone hurting someone
else for any reason beyond self-defense. Yeah, I can be a bit morbid
in my humor and my interests, but I am not the only one out there who
finds true crime compelling. It has often provided me with a
conversation topic that has actually made me friends. A bit weird
maybe, but hey, whatever works. At least my new friend and I have
something to talk about...although it might be gruesome, bloody
death.
So, this is a brief overview of what I
find fascinating, but I won't just focus on cases and stories in
these areas: wrongful convictions, serial killers, and crimes
committed by children. Yeah, weird, I know, but I find serial
killers interesting due to a desire to try to understand why.
Wrongful convictions, like the West Memphis Three and others, terrify
me because it can and does happen...probably more often than we even
think. Finally, killer kids is something that just makes so little
sense and yet, it happens. Why? I don't know, but it sure can lead
to some riveting twists and turns.
Crime Kitten will feature a variety of
cases, some well-known and others less so. I will also review true
crime books I read, podcasts that I listen to as well as movies and
TV shows. Not all the cases will be about murder and not all of them
will be solved. Sometimes, there is no happy ending and the mystery
of it all is what makes it so intriguing.
