True Crime Podcasts Part One
- Last Podcast on the Left: A hilarious podcast that often features true crime and serial killers. Ben, Marcus and Henry share tales of the macabre (and sometimes, the weird) while making you laugh. The episodes are crazy well-researched and give you a ton of information, often over 2 or more episodes. They have a heavy hitter series that focuses on serial killers and they are fantastic. Sure, some of the old episodes can be a little rough, but if you like your crime with some humor check out this podcast. Also, just an FYI: they also do supernatural stuff as well as aliens and whatnot. If that is not your cup of tea, they have plenty of murder. However, these crazy ones are often the most hilarious.
- My Favorite Murder: Another humor/ true crime podcast, this one features two funny females, Georgia and Karen, who each share a murder they find interesting. Sometimes, they tend to go off on tangents, so be aware of that, but each episode features great cases and more than a few laughs. I have often not heard of the murders they pick, which is great. Also, they have mini-episodes where they read hometown murders/crimes of listeners which are often quite entertaining. Stay sexy and don't get murdered!
- True Crime Garage: Two dudes, a garage, some craft brews and a case make up this interesting podcast. Nick and The Captain share well-researched crimes ranging from the well-known to the more obscure. The production is great and these two really know their stuff. Their earliest episodes cost money to download, but most can be listened to for free. Not often humorous, which is perfectly fine, these are finely done. I don''t always need to listen to murder and death with laughter.
- Serial: This is probably one of the more well-known true crime podcasts (at least, the first two seasons) and is very slick and professional. The first season exams the case of Hae Min Lee and the man accused of her murder, Adnan Syed. There are many twists and turns during the season while the host investigates the murder of a young woman and the evidence against Adnan. A lot of questions are raised by this podcast, mostly: is Adnan guilty or was he wrongfully convicted?
- Casefile: The host of this true crime podcasts examines cases all over the world. Many of the cases are actually located in Australia and England, which is neat since sometimes, those are not covered by American podcasts. Of course, the host is Australian, so this makes sense. The podcast is incredibly well-researched and dives deep into a new case each week...most of the time. There a few that span several episodes such as the case of the original Night Stalker...which is scary as hell and still freaks me out every time I hear it.
There are of course many others, but
these are my top five, currently. Check them out wherever you get
your podcasts (and send any recommendations my way). I am always
looking for a new favorite!
